Aloha, Bra'!! Sasquatch IS in Hawai'i

No, bigfoot has not been sighted in Hawai'i - but the spirit of sasquatch exists
in our favorite tropical paradise.

We had a great time hosting Steven McCarthy from Hanalei, Kauai at the P-G Film's 40th Anniversary Celebration in Willow Creek. Hawai'i was represented!

Now I chanced upon an offer for free stickers from Hawai'i for
Custom Surfboards by Sasquatch.

Mitch McClain is the "squatch" behind the 'boards.
Here's a couple of the things he mailed back in my self addressed stamped
envelope.

to get your stickers, send a (legal-sized) self addressed stamped envelope to:

Sasquatch Board Company
P.O. Box 60638
'Ewa Beach, HI. 96706

Stickers are FREE!

February - What's Goin' On? another new video slideshow!

Hey! where has February gone? :-)

there have been things happening. I'll try and blog about it when I can.
bullet points:
* Michael Greene's thermal imaging video of an upright, bipedal subject from North Carolina has been a hot topic.

* National Geographic Channel had a one hour long bigfoot episode on their series "American Paranormal" two weeks ago. We don't get that channel. I found it on YouTube in 5 videos. It is worth watching although the writing is "modern short-attention-span exclamative" (my term).

* Bob Gimlin was the guest on a 2 hour blog talk show tonight. Great interview.
click on the link and listen to the recording if you have the time.
Link to Blog Talk Archive Recording of Bob Gimlin interview 2/12/09

but the news of the night is the new video...

I've assembled another slideshow to accompany a song by (my good friend)
Paul Graves. The song is "Jim Henry" and is one of the best bigfoot
songs we've heard - it was our soundtrack to 2009.

Enjoy!

Jim Kocher's "Living in a Bigfoot World" - ready for all to hear!

Hey! I finally got Jim Kocher's new song in a format for all of you
to hear it. It's called "Living in a Bigfoot World" and I really like
it. Enjoy the catchy melody, the poetic lyrics - it's like all of Jim's
work - well crafted. He's been recording for many years and you can delve
in the world of Jim Kocher's music at wwww.jksongs.com .

Check out Jim's site and enjoy this song!

New Websites for Olympic Project & Derek Randles

Photo: Mountain Lion out for a stroll on the Fourth of July, 2009. An example of what can be found at the new Olympic Project website.
(all photos courtesy and copyright Olympic Project)

I wanted to share the news that two new websites exist that are of interest. They belong to Derek Randles, a long-time bigfoot researcher and outdoorsman from Washington. Derek was kind enough to sponsor and speak at the Yakima Bigfoot Round-Up last May. He gave us an overview of the Olympic Project - a study using the best available game cameras placed throughout the Olympic Mountains in his home state.

Photo: Derek Randles sets up camera in Olympic Mtns, WA.

The Olympic Project is detailed, the participants introduced and they share some of their wildlife photographs at this site. There are also "possible sasquatch" photos to ponder - nothing clear and dramatic but more what I termed "furry limbs across the lens."

Check out this website that is a work in progress. And stop back periodically to see what's new. Derek is a friend and an associate from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. I can't give him a bigger endorsement. He is co-owner of the skookum cast as he was part of that historic September 2000 expedition.

He also has another website for those of you interested in backpacking.
They offer a series of unique classes that teach all you need to know about backpacking and wilderness skills.

Tonight's the Night - Bigfoot Documentary Premieres on Nat'l Geographic Channel

"One of the most delightful things about a (new bigfoot documentary) is the anticipation it provides." - W.E. Johns (adapted to subject at hand)

Photo: John Mionczynski and Jeff Meldrum in the Wyoming wilderness in search of bigfoot evidence. (courtesy and copyright National Geographic Channel, American Paranormal)

Tonight's episode of the American Paranormal series is about bigfoot. I've known about this documentary for over a year as the organizers of the Yakima Bigfoot Round-Up were contacted by the show's producer, Christoper Lofft back in January 2009.

I'm hopeful the show will provide a much better treatment of the subject than another (unrelated) National Geographic Channel documentary from 2004. We'll have to wait and see tonight.

The show airs at 8:00 p.m. but check your local listings. If you have satellite TV, you may get the show at 5:00 p.m.
I don't get National Geographic Channel with our basic cable subscription, so I'll be seeing this show whenever I can obtain a copy. Let me know what you think about it. (email: tyamarone@pacbell.net)

ALSO, KATHY STRAIN on Coast-To-Coast-AM radio with George Knapp 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. PST
****NOTE: The Coast-to-Coast-AM show encountered technical difficulties and did not air last night. Kathy Strain is rescheduled for the last Sunday in February.****

This is very exciting as I'm an avid listener to Coast to Coast AM - way back to the nights when Art Bell hosted the program. Kathy - and her husband, Bob - are very good friends who brought me into the world of bigfoot field research. She's a long-time researcher and one of the most experienced in California.
She is also the author of Giants, Cannibals & Monsters: Bigfoot in Native Culture (2008, Hancock House Publishers)

Bigfoot Discovery Museum in the news...

I mentioned that I attended the monthly meeting at the Bigfoot Discovery Museum last Sunday. It was great timing as the 130 mile round-trip to the Santa Cruz area was free of rain. Since then more than 10 inches has innundated this region and most of the state. but I digress...

The meeting was held in a local pizza parlor and was attended by a small group of museum members. Mike Rugg, the curator and co-founder, talked to the group about what has been happening there since November.

One thing to check out is the latest issue of Stanford Magazine. Mike and I are both alumni of Stanford and they ran a short article in the current issue (Jan/Feb 2010) on Mike and his bigfoot museum. It's an excellent piece and you can find it here:

"Great North" Mystery Solved...Winter Continues

I don't know how many of your were aware of the "GREAT NORTH" documentary that had an interesting figure appear running with a herd of reindeer at the 9:12 (min/sec) time stamp of the video. You can view "GREAT NORTH" at Hulu.com.

"GREAT NORTH" at hulu.com

see what you see at 9 mins and 12 secs. You'll have some 30 second ads to watch but it's worth it.
Thank you to Sandra Maisel for sending me a link she receieved about this.

It has been the talk of the blogs the last couple of weeks and is now solved.
First, what did you think when you saw it?
We weren't sure back in October when this came to our attention. Looked like it could possibly be a sasquatch.

The BFRO (bfro.net) has an excellent explanation of the episode. It was intriguing and made for an interesting Winter mystery. AND, I will recommend this documentary if you have the time. I found the reindeer herding and igloo building exceptionally interesting segments, especially the archival film footage from many years ago.

Now, if you have already seen this at Hulu.com, check out the clarity in the video taken of a DVD version of this segment. It's posted at YouTube.com at the channel BFROVIDEOS.
Link to VERY CLEAR version of the subject in "GREAT NORTH" at 9:12 mark
here you will clearly see the subject is wearing a daypack - but that wasn't evident in the footage at Hulu.com.

Just wanted to point this out in case you may not have heard about it.

On other fronts, Jim Kocher of Cleveland, Ohio has written and recorded another bigfoot song. I'll have to get Jim's permission to put it on youtube so you can hear it. He wrote me into this one and I'm honored. Never thought I'd hear "Tommy Yamarone" in the lyrics of a song, but Jim pulled it off! Thanks, friend!
That's cool!
-NOTE: there's a link to Jim's website to the right in the LINKS section...check it out! -

There's a monthly meeting tonight at the Bigfoot Discovery Meeting in Felton, CA.
I'll report back on that this week.

And friends are planning on getting out later this month.

Also, I may be attending the 2010 Ohio Bigfoot Conference in May with a very good friend. I'll let you know when the travel arrangements are confirmed.

Getting the Decade Started...

The holidays have come...and almost gone. Bigfoot finds its way onto our Christmas tree each year. And there are usually bigfoot books and DVDs in the presents under the tree.

As far as any "news" goes, no new bigfoot reports have come to my attention in the last month.

There will always be sensational stories and claims - we've had a few of those
recently. The costumed subject from the northern Minnesota game cam and the video of the porcupine in the tree from Maine come to mind.

Winter is a trying time for bigfoot research. The drive and determination of Spring, Summer and Fall run smack into the holidays, winter weather and a natural slow-down of human and animal activity. I recommend reading and getting ready for some day trips to the snow line. Perhaps a reconnoitering of lower elevations or a search for snow tracks will provide an outlet for Winter's pent up energies.

here are two reports I took in the last year for the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (bfro.net).

One from 1962 in Patterson, California along the San Joaquin River.
link to BFRO Report 25009

and the other from 1993 in a remote section of the Sierra Nevada Mtns.
link to BFRO Report 26850

These are both interesting encounters from California over the last 40 years or so.

Just wanted to share these with you and now I'll share our home video
of New Year's Eve and the fun we have celebrating the milestone moment.

JUST FOR FUN...

enjoy and we'll see you back here soon with some bigfoot songs
up-dates. (I promise!)

Happy Squatch Year 2010!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hope you all enjoyed ringing in the new year in your own way.
I love spending the moment with my extended family - my parents, my brothers, our families...it's a tradition we've kept for many years.
and I try and take a moment to call some friends for a brief chat...
it brings us together for the New Year in that way.

Ring out the old...Ring in the new.

We had such a spectacular year with the Yakima Bigfoot Round-Up and several other events, expeditions and small group outings.

The round-up brought together most of the leading researchers and academics who share a like-minded approach to the sasquatch subject. In terms of evaluating the available evidence and assembling a group of individuals who also strive to gain addtiional evidence, the Bigfoot Round-Up was ground breaking.

There was a sense of shared purpose, respect for the subject and one-another, and a level of intelligent discussion that made it a unique gathering.

2010 is a clean slate - full of opportunity to obtain additional evidence. Let's hope for a video presented with contextual evidence...a photograph - again, with supportive information...more footprint photos and casts...compelling first-hand accounts - all of which will add to the evidence already compiled and considered when discussing the subject.

As always, refer to the books authored by John Green, Dr. Jeff Meldrum and Christopher L. Murphy for the best explanation of this subject!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hope to see you in 2010... and I didn't even mention the songs!
that'll be next time. There's some new songs in the works and great ones already
produced by some fellow bigfoot songwriters.

Bigfoot & Christmas - 6 Degrees of Separation

Merry Christmas to all!!
and especially to my family and friends who frequent this site!

We're enjoying a magical Christmas morning and want to send our wishes out
to you and yours! May this be a day of health & happiness - and don't forget
why we're celebrating Christmas. In an unusual twist, that message to not take the Christ out of Christmas was expressed most emphatically by - of all things - a South Park Christmas episode. Santa was being held hostage in Iraq (late 1990s) and Jesus goes in an brings him out to save Christmas... a classic episode. Funny how humor and satire can actually make a point better than a heavy-handed approach.

I digress...
:-)

enjoy the day! here is some Christmas humor - even some with bigfoot!

(I don't know who created these cartoons, the bigfoot with santa art, or who to credit the photo of the airliner with the holiday paint job above. If you have any idea, please email me at tyamarone@pacbell.net. I thank those folks for allowing
me to post these images in the spirit of the day.)

( The Six Degrees of Separation...let's give it a try. Bigfoot is referred to in a song by Jack Black. Jack Black performed on a show where Will Ferrel was part of the cast (SNL). Will Ferrel was in the Christmas movie Elf. Santa was in that movie. There was also a great film sequence of Elf in Central Park that pays homage to the P-G film in its treatment. Have you seen that?)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yamarone Brothers Reunite for a Song

The Yamarone Brothers met up in Napa Valley last Sunday evening to perform a bigfoot song. The rare grouping occurred during an evening of music to benefit The Collective Sound - a rock'n'roll summer camp.

James "Bobo" Fay and yours truly drove hundreds of miles to rendezvous at the "Friendraiser" on December 13th. We came to see some of our favorite musicians perform and to spend a rare evening together during the holiday season. Josh Fischel and Zach "Zippy" Goodin were playing a set of songs from their Bargain Music days along with original bass player Jeff Ward.
Also, Sacramento based teen music phenoms Dog Party were on the bill as well.

The event was held in the Tucker Farm Center next to Napa Valley State Park. This venue 4 miles south of Calistoga was an old rustic auditorium set up for a night of mingling and music. Artists were painting over to one side during the evening and vegetarian victuals were available in the back of the hall.

It was the perfect setting to see some friends and enjoy some music - and play some as well.

here are the pics. I'll update the post when I'm home this evening with
some links to The Collective Sound, Dog Party and Half-of-Nothing Records.

Thanks for stopping by!
(oh yeah, run your cursor over the slideshow and controls will appear to stop the show or view it frame by frame... I know it's too fast. Don't know how to control the photobucket settings for that...later!) :-)

Bigfoot Songs and Christmas Carols - 'Tis the Season!

Thanksgiving night at the backyard campfire...the family's heard it all before.

The holidays have been going well - I hope the same can be said for yours.
That period between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day can be extremely hectic, busy, stressful - and devoid of bigfoot news. On the other hand, if the pace is right, the holidays can be an enjoyable time to reflect on family, friends, focus, fun and 'footing.

I've done some traveling in December to see friends and family and I love the open road. The sights mostly. So I'll share some of them with you.

View of the Channel Islands from Silver Strand Beach in Oxnard, CA.

Mount Shasta looming over Interstate 5 - a favorite landmark on any trip north to Oregon and Washington.

The Naches Valley, Washington. Cold and clear with the Big Red Barn at Running Springs Ranch as the centerpiece. Can you see it? (click on website images for a larger version of the photo.)

HUGE landslide in Nile, Washington along Hwy 410. It's 1/2 mile long and changed the course of both the highway and the Naches River.

The reward for leaving at 4:00 a.m. is more than just good traffic -
an I-5 sunrise in the Sacramento Valley.

While in Washington, I was happy to see Paul Graves and get the chance to play some Christmas carols together at a party in Tampico. It was a cozy, crowded party on a snowy December night and nice to spend it playing seasonal songs. Paul has recorded many of the Christmas favorites as instrumental arrangements. He does an amazing version of "What Child Is This?" and "Little Drummer Boy." We stunned the crowded living room with ripping versions of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." No photos exist of the moment, but that's OK.
I left Washington ahead of an early December storm on a cold Sunday afternoon with an unbelievable gift in my car - and the gift of friends that continue to bless
my holiday season.

Merry Christmas!
Happy Hanukkah, Kwanza'a or Winter Solstice...
whatever you celebrate this time of year, I wish you all the best!

Tomorrow: the Collective Sound "Friendraiser" in Calistoga last Sunday featured performances by members of Bargain Music, SexRat, Dog Party and the Yamarone Brothers. There were plenty of photos taken at that event - I made sure of that!
see you then! and glad to be back blogging...

It Was 29 Years Ago Today...In Memory of John Lennon

There may be six degrees of separation between John Lennon and sasquatch, but that's not why I'm blogging about him on the anniversary of his death. It's the man and his music - his band, his solo career, his songwriting, the lyrics and the lasting influence he's had on culture in the last 45 years.

I am a huge fan of John Lennon and was a decade late to catch Beatlemania as it was happening. Fortunately, I was "into it" as his solo career was winding down, in hiatus and picking up again in 1980 with the release of his album "Double Fantasy."

What a tragic, sad day that was 29 years ago. It was like the rug was pulled out from under our feet. The pending live tour was not to be... the follow-up album left unfinished... a blow to our collective psyche on that night in December 1980.

I first visited the Dakota Apartments in 1987 and have been back several other times whenever I'm in New York City. Across the street in Central Park is the section dedicated to John Lennon known as Strawberry Fields. The centerpiece of the area is a mosaic with the word IMAGINE.

Here's to John Lennon!
Let's remember him today and try to imagine all the people living life in peace.

Thank you, Stephanie for the timely reminder!

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the holiday season. I've been on the road the last two weekends. I interviewed a bigfoot witness last Tuesday. I'll try and post some photos from the travels and a link to the report I took from a sighting in 1993 when it is up on the web.

back from holiday... 2 blog talks to check out

Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 2nd) at 6 p.m. Pacific time,

BILL MILLER will be a guest on the Grey Area
with Melissa Hovey and Monica Rawlins.

Here's the show summary:
The Grey Area welcomes guest Bill Miller. Mr. Miller has worked on such films as the notorious Zapruder film and recently has lent his expertise to the latest theory offered by MK Davis re: "Bigfoot Massacre". Be sure to tune in and find out what Bill has discovered!!

This should be an excellent expose on the bluff creek massacre(sic) theory.
Bill explains the inanity (insanity?) beautifully in his 20 page
article (linked up in a post down below).
It should be a VERY INTERESTING hour tomorrow night.

Link to Bill Miller on the Grey Area blog talk

Listen live tomorrow at 6:00 - or follow the link (afterwards)
to the archive.
(NOTE: SHOW TIME IS BACK TO REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOUR - 6:00 p.m.)

ALSO, AUTUMN WILLIAMS was a guest on Monday's Sasquatch Watch Radio blog talk
with Billy Willard and Mike Killen.
It's a long one, but full of enjoyable conversation with Autumn. She's intelligent & insightful - wrap your mind around it. :-)
I love her advice: "Approach looking for contact with a sasquatch as if you're looking for a Native American elder." indeed!

"Bigfoot's Coming - Gonna Getcha, Gonna Getcha"

Earlier this month, I received an email asking about a bigfoot song from the 1970s:
"Back about 1977 in Minnesota I heard a song about Bigfoot and I think it was done by a DJ. Some of the lyrics went something like this.

Bigfoot's coming gonna getcha, gonna getcha
Better bolt your doors and lock your windows
'Cause Bigfoot's on the prowl

Have you ever heard it or know anything about this song?

Roy Gleason"

I had not heard the song but did a search of the net and found the lyrics.
The song was credited to "Bro Smith."
I replied to Roy with this info and heard back from him soon thereafter - he had found the song on-line!

Bro Smith, a popular DJ at Washington D.C.'s 98WRC (the Rock of the Capitol) wrote and recorded the song. His on-air name was Brother Love (or just "Brother") - real name, Alan Smith. Ever heard of him or this song? This was the era of Top 40 radio and here is a bigfoot song that came out around the time of the "bigfoot resurgence" of the mid-1970s.

To hear the song, click on the link below, scroll down and click on the 45rpm cover for the song and a new window will open. Click "play" on the media bar and enjoy!

Link to Brother Love's page at WRC Radio's tribute website

Thank you, Roy, for getting in touch and for following-up
with this. (if you want to contact me about a song or a bigfoot sighting or anything, my email is tyamarone@pacbell.net.)

A Bigfooting Year in Review...2009

The blog talk appearance tonight has me thinking back on 2009. I guess it's not too early to start taking a look back at how the year went. It sure was a good one - here's some notes and photos from my bigfooting outings in 2009.

2009 started with a bang as we had already announced the Yakima Bigfoot Round-Up and January was a endless flow of emails and phone conversations. James "Bobo" Fay, Paul Graves, Bob Gimlin, Mary Lukehart and I really got to know each other.
It was such a pleasure organizing this milestone event. That frenetic - yet fun - pace continued all the way up to the weekend of May 15, 16 & 17 when we held the round-up in Naches, Washington.

Of course, during that time other things were happening. We had monthly meetings at the Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, CA. We had board of directors' meetings for the Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers. But overall, personal interaction with 250 plus people defined the first four months of the year. It was really amazing getting to know the folks coming to the bigfoot round-up. And some of them had some amazing sasquatch encounters of their own to share. (I'll have to write up some of those stories with their permission over the Winter this year.)

2009 is certainly broken up into two pieces - before and after the Yakima Bigfoot Round-Up.

Part 2 started with a social gathering at the Bigfoot Discovery Museum. I like to refer to this event as Bella Cutino's Coming Out Party. This was my first chance to see Bart and Kim's beautiful baby. What a treat! Also got to see friends from the round-up and from the museum. This was early June.

Later that month, I finally got out into the woods to do some field research with my friend Brian Horton from Redding, California. We had a met the previous October in the Bluff Creek area and it worked out great this year to meet him in Redding and go out bigfooting in either the Shasta-Trinity National Forest or over near Bluff in the Six Rivers National Forest.

Family events took precedence throught the rest of summer although I did get to do something really fun in late July. Bobo was asked to be share some of his sasquatch expertise and experience with two young film makers from southern California.

They were meeting to spend 2 days and a night shooting footage for a television pilot. Bobo invited me to join him and bring along the guitar and the call blaster. It was indeed a "blast" but I'll tell you, it was a business-like atmosphere "on the set" with this crew. The Golembeske Brothers (Ryan and Josh) star as the Monster Brothers and bigfoot was the subject this weekend. "Bigfoot, beer & babes" was our motto.

We still haven't seen the footage but the Monster Brothers DID win the 2009 New York Television Award for best non-scripted pilot. This was them out searching for a sea monster off the coast of Rhode Island, their home state. Hey, I didn't know what I was getting into, but it turned out to be golden! :-)

August 2009
One Night Stand at Bluff Creek...afternoon in Willow Creek. Getting my bigfoot fix before a long family vacation.
Aloha! Missed out on the Believe Tour as they came down the Bigfoot Scenic Highway. We crossed paths as the famly returned from a Maui vacation and I packed up the civic to go meet Paul Graves, Bob Gimlin, Cliff Barackman and Jerry Hein at a private gathering in Oregon.

September 2009
BFRO expedition in Northern California. Four days in the redwoods bigfooting with good friends. Brian Horton, Jim Sorensen, Jessica Phillips, the Brotherton Sisters, Michael, Kevin, the Garcias, Seth & many more. Guest appearance by Robert Leiterman.
Also featuring an amazing afternoon with The Leavitt's up in Crescent City.

The Cutino Wedding Anniversary Celebration weekend in Monterey.
Bobo, Cliff, Matt, Wally, Jade, Terry, Stephanie, Mike & Paul together to represent the bigoot friends of Bart and Kim.

October 2009
Bigfooting in Humboldt County with Terry Smith, Brian Horton, James "Bobo" Fay and Robert Leiterman with special guests Ellen and Leah.
